How Does It Work?
HorseGuard Bi-Polar electric tape creates a barrier that is visual, mental, and physical. It works best when powered by a low-impedance energiser capable of maintaining at least 4,000 volts on the tape.

The tape acts as the positive line, connected to the (+) terminal of the energiser.

The ground rod acts as the negative, connected to the (–) terminal.

A horse receives a shock only when it touches the tape while standing on the ground, completing the circuit.

Accessories Built to Last
Tensioners fitted at every tape start, gate, and corner ensure your tape is correctly tightened, reducing wear from wind.
With proper installation—posts no more than 5 metres apart and quality insulators—your tape can last 15 to 20 years with only minimal maintenance.
And of course, a fence that is neatly tensioned is far more pleasing to the eye than one sagging like a garland!
Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel Fittings
Every component that carries current to the tape and comes into direct contact with it is made of large-diameter, rounded stainless steel wire. This ensures the conductive filaments inside the tape are never cut or damaged by sharp edges.
Electric fences are especially vulnerable to oxidation, and rust is a very poor conductor of electricity. High voltage accelerates electrochemical corrosion, and no coating (zinc, bichromate, galvanisation, dacromet) can protect ordinary steel long term.
In over 35 years of testing and experience, only stainless steel has proved to be strong, reliably conductive, and resistant to corrosion under the constant passage of thousands of volts every second.
That is why every current-carrying part of our fencing system is now made entirely of stainless steel.
